I just bought a long range one for testing from Amazon. For testing, I
didn't want to get involved with a salesman from one of their resellers.
J So far in my testing, it are blowing my 2-3 year old HP ProCurve APs
out of the water for range. I was happy to see test results below to see
that it can handle the traffic too.
Thank you.

Jason,
Where did you find these? I looked them up and it looks like they have
some very nice solutions. It also looks like they also have a camera
recording software. Very interesting. What did you pay for your setup?

Just wanted to update the group on our test with a single unifi access
point at the regional IL Church IT Roundtable yesterday.
We had a dell mini10 running the controller software and 1 unifi AP
(long range version). It was the only access point in the room with 25
IT geeks ... and we asked everyone to attach every device they had to it
and hammer it :-)
We ended up with a max of 37 simultaneous devices pushing 1.2G of
traffic ... and the AP didn't seem to break a sweat.
Here's a screenshot of the unifi controller "stats" page
http://jpowell.posterous.com/wifi-usersstats-so-far-today-at-il-citrt-un
if
You have to look close to see the y-axis "max" reading.
So this "test" firmed up for us that this unifi solution is a no-brainer
low cost and pretty robust managed wifi solution. We'll for sure be
getting a couple more AP's and deploying this gear in our new multisite
building. I'd still like to truly max out an AP and see where it starts
to die.
We also convinced our long time IT volunteer Tom Templin to add ubiquity
to his reseller list. So if you need ubnt gear give him a ping ttemplin
at ciber.com
YMMV,
Jason
