The "owner" of the IP address (ATT) is the master of the reverse DNS. If
they won't change it doesn't matter what a 3rd party DNS service is set
to.
Say bye bye to AT-T if possible. We moved off of them long ago as well
as I've moved 2 clients off of AT-T. In Chattanooga Comcast is a
surprisingly great service to go with for small business, but for more
demanding needs our power utility (EPB) offers fiber internet.
I don't know where you are, but in the past when I lived in Atlanta I
moved my company there to Cbeyond communications from AT-T (both data
and phone). It was a great move. I can't speak to Cbeyond's reputation
now (that was over 5 years ago) but check them out if they are in your
area.
If I recall I went with the Beyond Voice package.

EasyDNS is easier and cheaper to work with than Network Solutions.

You may want to look at EasyDNS.com. They have a reverse DNS service
available, along with the regular DNS services.

Thanks for the feedback. That's what I expected too but was told "no."
How long ago was your exchange with them? This could be new policy.
Lots of frustrated folks on the 'net about this but I just can't move
this domain to ATT in the middle of the week. I shouldn't have to
anyway...like they are holding me hostage.

I don't know about the specific IP Flex service but I've had AT&T do a
reverse DNS entry for us in the past to our mail server for the church.
We have Domain registration with Network Solutions, Web hosting on a
different provider and our reverse dns entry from AT&T (Bellsouth is who
has it listed).
All I had to do was send an email to an address that AT&T gave me and
they made the dns change.

So we recently moved 100% of our Internet services to AT&T "IP Flex"
service. We're having an issue with Reverse DNS when trying to send
emails to some domains that do the rDNS lookup on each message because
we don't have it in place.
I've tried SPF, TXT, SRV, etc. - no dice.
Domain registrar is currently Network Solutions.
AT&T won't create a PTR record for me pointing back to my mail server
unless they "host" the domain for me, which I don't want to do for
multiple reasons, including the downtime that such a move would incur.
What can I do? Is a SmartHost an option? I'm not familiar with them
but am desparate now and ATT is not being at all flexible.
