[itdiscuss] Replacement for PhoneTree

We recently upgraded our phone tree from one that was created in the late
90's to the newest model. My user says she loves it, except for 1 complaint
- there is a lag of 6 seconds between the formatted standard greeting, and
the announcement. Some people hang up due to the delay. We connect our phone
tree to the ACS Ondemand database, so I would assume that they would
probably have a connection module for Shelby.

I've seen some people send something like this, but we don't use anything by
default on our email accounts.

I would be interested to know if any of your churches use email disclaimers
& if so, what do you say. You know, the type that says "If this isn't
intended for you delete it or the wrath of God will come on you" :)

Our business manager has asked about it.

Thanks,

Steve

I have always been hesitant to use mass notification because I don't like
receiving those phone calls myself, but I would be interested to hear the
general consensus on if they are well received or not.

I have been using PhoneTree for quite a few years and was wondering what you
folks use for mass notifications. My future replacement will need to use
Shelby as a data source.

We have a PhoneTree system as well, but the equipment is outdated. We only
have two phone lines connected to the device and it takes several days to
make a mass "mailing" to our members.

Instead, we have been using a service called Call-Em-All. It's a little on
the pricey side, but what used to take us days, now takes minutes. They
have an unlimited church calling plan which can be beneficial if your
organization uses the system a lot. You can learn more about their service
by visiting http://www.call-em-all.com/. They have some neat call reporting
and status tools. I simply export the Shelby data into a CSV file with the
phone numbers and upload the data to Call-Em-All.

Feel free to call them with any questions, they are very helpful. I think
they also started doing mass text notifications.

Thanks!
