[itdiscuss] Registrar Wars: DreamHost vs. Network Solutions

Our web admin tells me that he can register domains with DreamHost for
$9.95/yr, no strings attached. I've typically registered with Network
Solutions because... well... like my old boss used to tell me, "no one
ever got fired for buying IBM" and, by extension (and arguably) the
premier DNS registrar, Network Solutions. Unfortunately, competition in
the DNS space hasn't done much to reduce pricing on the part of Network
Solutions so they still want $34.95/yr (less per year for longer terms).

What can be said about the up and down sides of using
_your_favorite_DNS_registrar_here_ vs. the Network Solutions Goliath?

Please consider in your response that NS must be doing something
superior or unique in order to maintain their pricing structure.

Blessings,
