1) a) Shelby Systems. b) Shelby Systems (some times). More below.

2) We currently use hard wired full PCs. More below.

3) Yes. Call our main number and ask for April Kitchens. 615.324.6100

We have only ever used Shelby for our check-in procedures. At first we
had software issues that made the system unusable but which have since
been resolved. Next we had to go through the process of discovery to
determine the best traffic flow for the process. This was actually more
difficult than the software issue. Then we upgraded to touch screens
which brought separate issues because they were add-on panels; not
built-in. Then we went through problems with multiple organizations
using the system during the same time frame (there were interactions
causing settings from one organization to affect the output of the other
organization).

Our experience has been that Shelby has not been an out-of-the-box
solution that did everything we ever wanted it to do with no problems.
In the end, I believe Shelby has a workable solution if you account for
some of the variables mentioned and tailor your hardware, organizational
structure, and traffic flow to your own situation.

I asked this question last year, but now the money is available to set
it up. We are looking at a August launch date and I need to start over
and get some feedback.

I am planning on launching it first with the younger kids and that would
be around 350 to 450 kids each Sunday, next the full launch with all
Children's areas would be around 900 kids. The Children's Ministry has
looked at Parent Pager Plus, we have Shelby as our CMS.

1) What systems are other churchs using? What systems have not worked
very well.

2) Hardware systems, PCs, thin clients, wired or wireless?

3) Would one of your Children's Ministry staff be willing to talk with
our Children's Ministry Leader to answer questions and provide feedback.
If yes, send me their names and email addresses and I will pass them
along.

Any other feedback or warnings that will help us do this right the first
time.

Thank you,

Mark Rock
