The Borg were a fantastic creation by Gene Roddenbury ;)  Google  
likewise us something special.  Microsoft ... Drop your shields and  
prepare to be boarded. ;)

Competition is good.  The US Federal government could not effectively  
keep Microsoft from its dominating monopoly; Maybe Google can go where  
no government has gone before (insert theatrical music here) ;) To  
keep Microsoft honest.  Google and Microsoft friendly ;) competition  
is a good thing for the consumer.

The technical advances by Google continue to be a marvel (much like  
Apple ;) They are setting the standards for web based GUIs that adhere  
to open standards.  Google has awesome performance of their system too  
(no waiting on isle seven!)

Also the fact that Google adheres to open standards makes Google a big  
winner.  Microsoft is considering being open, but this far their  
business model has had more success categorizing open source  
approaches as "viral software" with diminishing returns.

The idea that IT would be adversely impacted by Google is bogus.  And  
to liken Google technology advances to "disruptive techmolpgy" is a  
misrepresentation of the facts by a Microsoft surrogate like Gartner  
Group.

It may be bad for Microsoft in the short run but guess what, Microsoft  
will do what everyone else is doing in the wonderful world of IT;   
They will adapt to survive, and then to excell.  The IT departments  
will do the same.  The work may change, but IT departments will always  
have boat-loads of work to do with lots of opportunities.

And may the best open technology and open solutions win!
